Parents as Teachers Affiliate

Wooden Fish Parents First is a certified Parents as Teachers affiliate program.
We partner with parents during the early years — from pregnancy through early childhood — to help children grow, learn, and thrive at home and in school.

Every enrolled family receives four types of support:

1. Personal Visits (Your Family Coach)

A trained Parent Educator meets with your family regularly — in your home, virtually, or wherever you feel most comfortable. These visits are relaxed and child-focused, not clinical or judgmental.

Together we:

  • Learn what your child is working on developmentally

  • Practice simple play-based learning activities

  • Talk through sleep, behavior, routines, and transitions

  • Support school readiness and confidence

  • Help you understand why your child does what they do

  • Answer real-life parenting questions

You’ll leave each visit with ideas you can use the same day.

2. Child Development & Health Screenings

As children grow, we check progress to make sure development stays on track.

We provide periodic screenings that look at:

  • Communication & language

  • Movement & coordination

  • Problem solving

  • Social-emotional development

  • Vision and hearing (when appropriate)

If support is needed, we help you navigate next steps — you are never left figuring it out alone.

Early support = easier support.

3. Parent Gatherings & Community

Parenting shouldn’t happen in isolation.

We host group connections where families can:

  • Meet other parents in the same stage

  • Share experiences and questions

  • Learn new parenting strategies

  • Let children play and socialize

These are welcoming spaces — no pressure, no perfect parenting required.

4. Family Support & Resources

We help families connect to services when they need them.

This may include:

  • Preschool & kindergarten readiness resources

  • Early intervention services

  • Health and wellness supports

  • Housing, food, or family assistance programs

  • Community activities for children

Think of us as your guide — not just a referral list.
